All the stuff I need to fix the stereo in the Mini is here. Grabbed all the stuff I needed from Amazon along with a decent soldering iron (the one I had was crap). Not pictured is my new Fluke 115 digital autoranging multimeter that I treated myself to. Now to spend a weekend figuring out the wiring in the car and installing it all. I am so looking forward to having Bluetooth in my car.

I have to get a non-crappy soldering iron sometime....both of mine are piddly 35-watt Radio Shack jobbies...

How is the one you picked up? Make/model/wattage...? Does it seem OK? If it’s decent, maybe I should just order one online! :)

Going to try mounting some LED foglights on my DD Accent sometime as I miss having them from my old Subie - they really helped in bad weather!

Soldering Iron is good for the price ($35). I have not used this one yet but it’s identical to the ones I used throughout my time in high school (Technical School Electronics program). It is a 35 Watt Weller with adjustable temperature. It is not the best iron that I have ever used but it is a fraction of the cost. The ones at my high school have served us well for years.

One of the little covers that fill the spots where the fog lights would be in my bumper is missing and I am tempted to add some. Have to drive the car in inclement weather/ at night to see if I really need them though (only had the car for a week).

Wouldn’t surprise me. They are good irons at the price.

I predict that pretty soon, you’ll be seriously looking at some decent poly-cone speakers.

My DD is a 2009 Hyundai Accent hatch, so my issue is that the location for the fogs on models with no dogs has no cover, the entire inner bumper piece is one large continuous sheet of plastic.....so to install OEM fogs, I would need an entire inner bumper panel, plus the fog housings, plus wiring etc.

Thinking I could drill through that or maybe just mount some higher in the grill...

My thing with new speakers is that supposedly the ones in the car are actually pretty decent and that they are held by custom plastic mounts meaning that new speakers would require fabricating new mounts. The goal right now is just to get a working system in the car.
